About the Show

the Boy & the Ball is a story about how one friend can become many. This nonverbal performance is a wondrous tale of reassurance, joy and connection... with a little visual magic achieved through carefully devised theatrical illusion.

 

Navigating the world of friendship is a “rite of passage” experience for almost every child in the early days of their kindergarten life and something that matters most to them at this time. 

 

When a young child has a positive sense of security and belonging they have life-long foundations for developing friendships. Through the experience of making friends, made gently visible by the performance, young audiences witness processes of negotiation, problem solving and active participation in their own society with their peers.

About the Artist

I make high-quality and meticulously crafted original performances for theatres, public places and schools.  I have worked in the field of Theatre for Early Years for the past 15 years. My general theatre and dance performance practice began over 30 years ago working in circus and street performance.  Apart from my own work I regularly collaborate with Sally Chance Dance and The PaperBoats, two of Australia's leading companies making performances with and for young audiences.

 

My artistic priority is to make performance works for an extremely specific age group because I can create and respond to the cognitive and emotional experiences specific to the age group. the Boy & the Ball invites children aged 4 years into a world created in response to their capacity for wonder, abstraction, connection and play.

the Boy & the Ball è una storia su come un amico può diventarne tanti. Questa performance non verbale è una meravigliosa storia di rassicurazione, gioia e connessione... con un po' di magia visiva ottenuta attraverso un'illusione teatrale attentamente ideata.

Navigare il mondo dell’amicizia è un’esperienza di “rito di passaggio” per quasi tutti i bambini che iniziano l’asilo ed e’ qualcosa di molto importante per loro in questo momento della loro vita.

Quando un bambino piccolo ha un senso di sicurezza e di appartenenza positivi, ha le basi per sviluppare amicizie per tutta la vita. Attraverso l'esperienza del fare amicizia, resa dolcemente visibile dalla performance, il pubblico giovane assiste a processi di negoziazione, risoluzione dei problemi e partecipazione attiva nella propria società con i propri coetanei.

Informazioni sull'artista
Realizzo spettacoli originali di alta qualità e meticolosamente realizzati per teatri, luoghi pubblici e scuole.  Ho lavorato nel campo del teatro per l’infanzia negli ultimi 15 anni. La mia pratica generale di performance di teatro e danza è iniziata oltre 30 anni fa lavorando nel circo e negli spettacoli di strada.  Oltre a creare il mio lavoro, collaboro regolarmente con Sally Chance Dance e The PaperBoats, due delle principali compagnie Australiane che realizzano spettacoli con e per il pubblico giovane.

La mia priorità artistica è realizzare performance per una fascia d'età estremamente specifica perché posso cosi’ creare e rispondere alle esperienze cognitive ed emotive specifiche di quella fascia d'età. the Boy & the Ball invita i bambini dai 4 anni in un mondo creato in risposta alla loro capacità di meraviglia, astrazione, connessione e gioco.
